Extended story: membership club renewals
A Kowloon membership club asked us to review twelve months of annual renewals after members complained about unexpected step-ups. Commercial terms allowed a CPI-linked increase only after written notice sixty days prior. Billing had applied the increase on the anniversary invoice without checking whether notice letters had gone out.
We tested the full renewal cohort for the year, matched each step-up to the notice log, and listed members billed without evidence of notice. Finance issued corrective credits for that group and rewrote the renewal checklist so notice dates are logged before the invoice run. The engagement took five weeks, largely because historical notice letters lived in a separate shared drive.
