About Apps Automation
A Hong Kong billing-audit practice focused on recurring charges, renewals, and the documents that authorise them.
Why we exist
Subscription businesses in Hong Kong often grow faster than their billing controls. Discounts linger past their sunset date, prorations are calculated by habit rather than by clause, and credit notes sit unapplied while revenue looks healthier than cash. Apps Automation was formed to give finance teams an independent pair of eyes on that recurring charge trail — without waiting for the annual statutory audit.
Origin
The practice began after repeated year-end cleanups for membership and retainer clients revealed the same pattern: commercial terms lived in email and PDFs, while billing ran on whatever rate was last typed into the system. We formalised a review method that starts from the contract pack, not from the invoice total, and opened our office at Kowloon Commerce Centre in Kwai Chung to stay close to finance teams across Kowloon and the New Territories.
How we work with clients
We treat billing staff as partners, not obstacles. Findings are written so a clerk can correct a rate tomorrow morning, and so a controller can brief an auditor without re-explaining the method. We prefer fixed fees once scope is clear, and we decline engagements where we cannot obtain source documents.
Values that show up in the workpapers
- Document first — Every exception cites a clause, amendment, or invoice line.
- Proportionate testing — Materiality is agreed up front; we do not drown you in cents.
- Plain language — Memos avoid jargon that only another specialist would enjoy.
- Local availability — Walkthroughs can happen at our Kwai Chung office or at your premises when paper files matter.
People
Our reviewers come from accounting and commercial-finance backgrounds. Assignments are led by a named engagement lead who stays with you from intake through delivery, supported by analysts who build the working files and chase clarifications.
